The North Carolina Stroke Association hosted its fourth annual “Cycle for Life…” bike tour on Saturday, October 20, 2022 at the Hanover Park Vineyard, Yadkinville, North Carolina. TriStone Community Bank and Paceline Bicycles co-sponsored the tour.

The bike tour had three different venues for cyclists: 65 miles, 40 miles and 25 miles. Over 250 cyclists participated in the tour through the rolling farm land, countryside, and the foothills of four counties: Yadkin, Davie, Iredell and Wilkes. The weather was cool, the air was crisp and the sky was clear. The vineyard mapped a one-mile route around the vineyard for walkers and children on bikes. 

Many cyclists enjoyed the fresh produce, provided by W. R. Vernon’s Produce and the homemade cookies and baked goods that were at Registration as well as the tour’s three Rest Stops.

The tour raised over $43,000 for the NC Stroke Association. Proceeds support the NC Stroke Association Partnership Grant Program, which funds hospital stroke programs in outreach communities.

Of note were cyclists who have either recovered from strokes or whose loved one/friend died of a stroke: Bill Smith, Winston-Salem, NC, 25 miles; Chris Sheehan, Hildebrand, NC, 65 miles; Meredith Harper, Columbia, SC, 40 miles.  John Parks, Winston-Salem, NC, 65 miles, in memory of his brother, Robert, who died four years ago.
