The North Carolina Stroke Association
hosted its fifth annual “Cycle for Life...2008” at Hanover Park
Vineyard, Yadkinville, North Carolina on Saturday, October
18th. An estimated 215 cyclists participated, choosing from
among the 25-40-65 mile route options.
Over $30,000 was raised with proceeds
going to support the Stroke Association’s Grant Program. Grants are
awarded to hospitals for the benefit of implementing stroke programs in
their community, and in their hospitals. In 2007, two individual grants
of $20,000 each were awarded to Onslow Memorial Hospital and Caldwell
Memorial Hospital to begin launching stroke education and prevention
programs.
The tour includes of good exercise,
great food, music, camaraderie, and wine tasting. Numerous participants
have stated that this is one of the best bike tours they have ever
ridden in, and that they look forward to the event, every year since it
began in 2004.
