Stroke is a
major health problem in the United States, particularly in the Southeast, which
is known as the Stroke Belt due to the excess morbidity and mortality from
stroke. Although many educational programs have dealt with the management of
acute stroke, few programs have addressed the broad scope of issues related to
clinical stroke prevention that physicians and other health personnel must deal
with on a daily basis.
The
presentation topics organized below were chosen to include: multifaceted risk
assessment, state-of-the-science methods for screening and detection, emerging
trends in primary and secondary stroke prevention in the clinical setting, and
the application of effective interventions for risk factor control and disease
pathways that reduce stroke incidence
The North
Carolina Stroke Association, along with the Office of Continuing Education at
Wake Forest University School of Medicine, is sponsoring a stroke prevention
program entitled "Atherosclerosis and Stroke: Prevention and Screening", which
will take place on September 27-29, 2002, at the Grandover Resort and
Conference Center, Greensboro, North Carolina. The emphasis will be on the latest developments in
identification and screening for stroke risk, and associated atherosclerotic
disease, as well as current clinical practice for all aspects of stroke
prevention. This will provide information which physicians and other health
care providers can incorporate into their daily practices.
We invite you
attend, and look forward to seeing you in September |
